NOMOS Glashütte: "Using silicon would a farewell to a material tradition - The best results with precision mechanics that you have mastered in Glashütte since 175. It's a question that divides the watchmakers. With using a material that occurs in computers, you're moving away from tradition and we at NOMOS Glashütte are primarily focused on the watchmaking tradition. And only recently we announced our independence with the "Swing-System", which was no small matter with an investment of 11 million euros. Magnetism is a topic that NOMOS constantly encounters when working with classic materials and it's being researched."
NOMOS Glashütte: "The chronograph doesn't really fit NOMOS; It is not plain and not necessary. Chronograph watches have a different market - 35mm manual winding in stainless steel, that's the classic NOMOS market - manual winding made modern. With introducing a chronograph watch you are moving into a huge market. It's easy when you just buy a chronograph movement and put it into your watches, but for NOMOS it would mean the development of an in-house chronograph movement and that in turn means years of development. So there won't be major technical developments in the mid term - but you never know what will come in the future."
NOMOS Glashütte: "No we haven't considered it yet. We build beautiful, simple, precise, fine watches. Flat elegance is a premise for NOMOS and everything beyond becomes difficult for NOMOS. Art on the dial of a watch can become "too much" too quickly. Lately we have developed other complex topics, while trying to keep as much simplicity as possible; LUX, Lambda and then the complex development of the Swing-System. Pretty much novelties during the last few years already, which you should let work on you first."
